ENTERING TONIGHT'S ACTION...

Tonight, the SeaWolves look to equal a season-best four game winning streak as they open up a three-game series against the Reading Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies) at Jerry Uht Park. The Howlers have won four consecutive games on two other occasions in 2009. Erie is coming off of a three-game weekend series sweep of Bowie. It was Erie's fourth series sweep of the season (2 vs. ALT, 1 vs. HAR, 1 vs. BOW). The R-Phils make their first of two trips to "The Uht" this season. Despite being in the same division, the ‘Wolves will face Reading only nine times in ‘09 with Erie making just one trip to First Energy Stadium in August. Reading is coming off of a series win over Altoona and is 5-5 in the last 10 games. The R-Phils are a half game behind Erie in the EL South and five games out of first...Erie is 7-3 in the last 10 games and hold the second best home record in the EL at 12-5. The only team with more home victories is Akron (14)...Lefty Jon Kibler takes the mound for the ‘Wolves, making his sixth start and first against Reading. Kibler was the tough luck loser in his last outing at Harrisburg. He went six innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits with three strikeouts and a season-high four walks. He gave up a two-run home run in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and the game was called before the top of the seventh due to heavy rains...RHP Mike Stutes takes the mound for the Phillies making his sixth start. Stutes took a no-decision in his last start at Connecticut on May 5. In the game, he went six innings, allowing a run on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Stutes opened up the season with three consecutive wins and has taken back-to-back no-decisions.

TODAY'S NOTABLES -

- Erie won the 2008 season series over Reading 11-2. The SeaWolves and R-Phils meet nine times in 2009.

- Erie's Max Leon has been named Eastern League Player of the Month for April.

- Erie's pitching staff ranks fifth in the league with a 3.71 team ERA. Reading's pitching staff ranks fourth with a 3.32 team ERA.

- Erie's offense ranks second in the EL with a .273 team batting average. Reading is ninth, batting .258 as a team.

- The SeaWolves lead the league with 32 home runs and are second in the league with 153 runs scored.

- Leon is ninth in the league with a .333 batting average and is third in the league with a .619 slugging percentage.

- Ryan Strieby leads the league with nine home runs, 27 RBI and 27 runs scored. He is second in the league with a .633 slugging percentage and is tied for second with 15 extra-base hits.

- Brennan Boesch is fifth in the league with 14 extra-base hits.

- Defensively the SeaWolves are tied for the league lead with a .986 team fielding percentage. Erie has committed 15 errors this season which is fewest in the league. The ‘Wolves have turned 35 double plays which is tied for second in the EL.
