New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats announced two roster transactions today and each involved a Catcher. Related details are as follows:

C Wilson Ramos, the 21-year-old Venezuelan ranked by Baseball America as the third-best Prospect in the entire Minnesota Twins organization, has been placed on the Disabled List due to a finger injury suffered over the weekend in Portland, ME. While playing against the Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field, a pitch glanced off a Portland batter and struck Ramos on the tip of a finger on his glove-hand. A 2008 Florida State League All-Star, Ramos appeared in 24 games for the 2009 Rock Cats. He was batting .269 when he went to the DL on Saturday, May 9th.

Replacing Ramos on New Britain's active roster is Danny Lehmann, a 23-year-old Catcher out of Rice University. Chosen in the 8th Round of the 2007 Draft, the Woodlands, TX resident joins New Britain from Ft. Myers where he batted .280 in 18 games for the 2009 edition of the Single-A Miracle in the Florida State League.

Lehmann arrived in New Britain earlier today and will be in the Rock Cats' starting line-up tonight, wearing jersey # 11.

The New Britain Rock Cats are the Double-A, Eastern League affiliate of the American League's Minnesota Twins.
