Sea Dogs to Open Gates Early Monday-Wednesday
July 19, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs will open the gates to Hadlock Field an hour earlier than normal on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. The gates will open at 4:30 PM, two and a half hours prior to the scheduled 7:00 PM start time. The decision was made to open the gates an hour early due to the large crowd that is expected due to the possibility of David Ortiz appearing with the Sea Dogs on a Major League rehab assignment.
The Sea Dogs recommend that fans holding General Admission Tickets arrive early. General Admission Seating is an open seating area in the upper portion of the grandstand; seats are on a first-come-first serve basis.
The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will be facing the Connecticut Defenders, the Double-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Sea Dogs are scheduled to take batting practice from 4:30-5:15 PM each day; this schedule is subject to change.
Ortiz has been sidelined since May 31 with a torn tendon sheath in his wrist. He began his rehab assignment with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox on Thursday, July 17th. Ortiz has homered in each of the three games he has played for Pawtucket.
Tickets for all three potential David Ortiz rehab games with the Sea Dogs are SOLD OUT. Tickets are available for all Sea Dogs' home games in August. Tickets can be ordered by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or order online at www.seadogs.com.
