Curve GM Parnell now a certified minister

July 19, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release

Looking for that extra spark in your relationship? Do you and your significant other want to reignite your commitment to each other? If so, the Altoona Curve welcome all married couples to Blair County Ballpark tonight to renew their wedding vows after the Curve take on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 p.m.

Couples can sign up throughout the game at BCB to have their wedding vows renewed with Reverend Todd Parnell, whose day job is to serve as the General Manager of the Altoona Curve.

Just the other day, "Pastor Parney" became a legally certified reverend online through the Universal Life Church, where according to their website, www.themonastery.org, over 20 million people have been ordained since 1959.

The Curve's mission is to make the ceremony as quick and convenient as possible. As one 50-something fan (who shall remain nameless in this release) said, "I've already been through this once before, so if it can happen as quickly and painless as possible, it'd be very much appreciated."

With that in mind, the Curve have taken the liberty of providing the best man (team mascot, Steamer) and Diesel Dawg (flower dog) to make tonight's post-game ceremony as efficient as humanly possible.

Following the ceremony, couples can even shove wedding cake in each other's faces, just as they did on their wedding day.

Over-played, cliché wedding songs will also provide the entertainment following the ceremony. All couples will be encouraged to partake in the Electric Slide, Hokey Pokey, and the Chicken Dance.

Kids will run the bases following the game, courtesy of Thomas Chevrolet of Bedford - a promotion already scheduled on the calendar. So couples don't feel left out, Reverend Parnell will also lead all vow-renewers in the Locomotion around the base paths.

In addition to the post-game ceremony, the Curve will also give away a commemorative 10th anniversary photo ball to the first 2,000 fans through the gates, courtesy of East Coast Gun Sales. It's the first of six photo balls that will be given away by the Curve this year. The first photo ball will feature former Curve stars Adam Hyzdu and Zach Duke. Tonight the Curve will also salute their 2005 team, with former pitcher Brady Borner on hand to throw out a first pitch and sign autographs throughout the game.

To join in on the fun at the ballpark tonight, fans can get their Curve tickets over the phone at 877-99-CURVE, online at AltoonaCurve.com or in person at the Blair County Ballpark ticket windows.
