Harrisburg Senators News Release
Harrisburg, PA - RHP Craig Stammen delivered another tremendous start to lead the Harrisburg Senators to a 5-1 victory over the Altoona Curve, Saturday at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona. The win pushed Harrisburg to 56 wins, eclipsing its win total from last season.
Stammen went 6 innings and allowed just one run on three hits, a walk and six strikeouts to win his third straight start. Ofilio Castro had three hits, including a home run, and drove in three.
The Curve got on the scoreboard first, plating a run in the bottom of the 2nd. Jason Delaney doubled and scored on a two-out RBI single by Luis Cruz.
The Senators struck back in the top of the 4th when Castro blasted his second home run of the year, a solo shot to left, tying the game at 1-1.
Harrisburg took the lead in the bottom of the 6th when Matt Rogelstad drilled a bases-loaded, two-run single to left to give the Senators a 3-1 advantage. Seth Bynum followed with a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-1 game.
The Senators tacked on an insurance run in the top of the 9th. With two out and two on, Castro grounded a 3-2 pitch up the middle for an RBI single to make it 5-1.
Matt Rogelstad finished the game with a flourish. With one out and a runner at first base in the bottom of the 9th, he fielded a ground ball, tagged out the runner and fired to first for a game-ending double play.
Stammen picked up the win to improve his record to 3-1. RHP Dan Reichert took the loss in his first start for the Curve.
The Senators upped their mark to 56-42. The Curve fell to 42-55.
