Portland Sea Dogs News Release
Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have partnered with HP Hood LLC. to present the "Hood Maine Monster." Hood will serve as the official sponsor of the "Maine Monster" at Hadlock Field.
The "Hood Maine Monster" was constructed in 2003 when the Sea Dogs became affiliated with the Boston Red Sox. The "Hood Maine Monster" is a likeness of Fenway Park's Green Monster, both walls are 37 feet high. Located 315 feet down the left field line from home plate, the "Hood Maine Monster", has become a landmark feature of Hadlock Field.
"Hood has long-standing roots in the Portland area-our production plant is practically within homerun reach of Hadlock Field," said Lynne Bohan, Hood Spokesperson.
"Sponsorship of the Hood Maine Monster was a natural fit for us on many levels. Like the Portland Sea Dogs, Hood is committed to serving young families throughout Portland and beyond."
Hood was founded in 1846 in Charlestown, Massachusetts, by Harvey Perley Hood, and has become one of the largest branded dairy operators in the United States. Hood is the number-one dairy brand in New England, and Hood's portfolio of national and super-regional brands and franchise products includes Kemps, Crowley Foods, LACTAID, Stonyfield Farm Organic Milk and others. For more than a century, Hood has remained committed to supporting local, civic, educational, cultural and charitable programs in the communities in which it serves.
The 2009 season is the Sea Dogs 16th season in Portland and seventh as an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. The Portland Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Thursday, April 23rd at 6:00 PM against the Connecticut Defenders to begin a seven game, eight day homestand. Tickets are available for all 2009 Sea Dogs' home games. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Sea Dogs Ticket Office at 207-879-9500 or online at www.seadogs.com.
