HARRISBURG, PA - The Aeros claimed a sweep of Wednesday's doubleheader in Harrisburg, taking game one 2-0 and game two by a score of 3-2.

Akron claimed game one with a pair of late runs. Jerad Head saved a run in the bottom of the third with a spectacular tumbling catch on the warning track in left field, and then opened the sixth with base hit to left off Senators starter Mike O'Connor. Jose Constanza tried to move him up with a sacrifice bunt, but Harrisburg catcher Javi Herrera alertly fired to second to force out Head. That put the speedy Constanza aboard however, and with two away he swiped second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch before Beau Mills beat out a slow roller to short for an RBI infield single.

The Aeros then took advantage of a leadoff walk in the seventh, as Niuman Romero got aboard to open the inning and advanced to second on an error. A fielder's choice off the bat of John Drennen moved Romero to third with two away, and Head then made his presence known once more by lacing a single past a diving Bill Rhinehart at first base to score Romero with the insurance run.

The Aeros took game two by a 3-2 score, thanks in part to three shutout innings from RHP Carlton Smith, in relief of starter Frank Herrmann. The Aeros plated two runs in the third with RBIs from Jose Rodriguez and Carlos Rivero. Harrisburg tied it up with a run in the third, but the Aeros pulled out the victory on Damaso Espino's RBI single in the seventh that scored Niuman Romero.

The Aeros return home to Canal Park to open a seven game game homestand on Thursday night. Altoona returns to town sending Jared Hughes to the mound (0-1, 4.05 ERA, against Akron's Josh Tomlin (1-1, 1.64 ERA). The game broadcast begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio 1350 WARF-AM and online at www.akronaeros.com. For more information, please call the Aeros at (330) 253-5151.
