IT'S BEEN A WHIILE: The Sea Dogs and Trenton Thunder open up a three game series at Waterfront Park on Tuesday night, their first meeting since May 24...Portland finished their recent homestand at 1-5 with their only win coming on Saturday at Fenway Park...The Sea Dogs enter tonight's game 3.5 games ahead of New Hampshire for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League's Northern Division.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: The Harrisburg Senators took two of three from the Sea Dogs with Sunday's 8-7 victory at Hadlock Field. Felix Diaz (3-1) suffered his first loss in the Red Sox organization, allowing seven runs and seven hits over five innings. Jim Magrane (4-8) pitched five and 2/3 innings on 10 hits and five runs (three earned) to earn the win. Aaron Bates blasted a two-run homer off Zechery Zinicola in the bottom of the ninth inning but Zinicola picked up the save. The Senators built an early 7-0 lead on homers by Tony Blanco and Josh Whitesell. Bubba Bell and Andrew Pinckney each had three hits and scored twice for Portland. Jeff Corsaletti, John Otness and Bryan Pritz had RBI's. Jeff Natale added two doubles and scored a run in the third inning. Beau Vaughan pitched two scoreless innings and recorded three strikeouts.
THEY DON'T MIND THE BUS TRIPS: The Sea Dogs have lost eight straight games at Hadlock Field but enter tonight's game with an 8-game winning streak on the road...Portland has won five straight series on the road - their last series loss came against the New Britain Rock Cats on July 4-6. THE 100 CLUB: Bubba Bell is third amongst all minor league players with 103 RBI between Lancaster and Portland...Chris Davis of Frisco leads Minor League Baseball with 105 RBI; Steven Pearce has knocked in 104 runs between Altoona and Indianapolis...Bell leads Minor League Baseball in hits (157) and runs scored (118).
GIVE HIM A HIGH 10: Infielder Iggy Suarez has a season-high, 10-game hitting streak from August 2-12...Suarez is hitting .414 (17-for-41) during the streak and has raised his average 43 points since July 7...The Portland shortstop is hitting .309 since the All-Star Break with 2 home runs and 10 RBI.
HADLOCK HAPPENINGS: Next Homestand begins on Friday when the Sea Dogs host the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins affiliate)...Portland and New Britain will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 6:00 PM.
