RUBBER GAME: The Portland Sea Dogs and Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies affiliate) play the rubber match-up of their three-game set on Wednesday night at Hadlock Field...With a win tonight, the 'Dogs will clinch their second straight series win at home...Starting tomorrow night, the Sea Dogs open up a nine-game trip over eight days in Reading...RHP Tanner Houck makes his second start of the season against the Yard Goats.
GOATS SHUT DOWN THE 'DOGS: Jack Wynkoop (3-5) worked six scoreless frames on four hits and seven strikeouts, leading Hartford to an 8-0 win on Tuesday night...Hartford scored three times in the second inning against losing pitcher Denyi Reyes (0-5)...Manny Melendez led the charge, going 3-for-6, 3 RBI...Alan Trejo led off the fifth inning with his fifth homer of the season...Portland had five hits, receiving doubles from Bobby Dalbec and Tate Matheny.
