Sea Dogs Fall in Series Finale, 5-0

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Portland Sea Dogs fell 5-0 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Mirabito Stadium. The Sea Dogs fall to 49-33 while the Rumble Ponies improve to 36-46.

Brayan Bello was given the loss tossing 5.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits while walking three and striking out a season-high 11 batters. Jose Butto was awarded the win pitching 6.0 shutout innings allowing one hit while striking out eight. He did not issue a walk.

Carlos Rincon hit a one-out home run to left field in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Rumble Ponies led, 1-0.

After Rincon drew a lead-off walk in the bottom of the sixth inning, he came around to score on an RBI single to left field by Danny Rodriguez. Leading 2-0, the Rumble Ponies loaded the bases. Rio Gomez then issued a bases loaded walk to Yoel Moreno, and Binghamton led, 3-0. An RBI force out to the shortstop, Grant Williams, by Jake Mangum brought home Rodriguez and the Rumble Ponies led, 4-0.

The Rumble Ponies scored their final run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Matt Winaker lifted a fly ball to right field, but Pedro Castellanos lost it in the sunshine and Winaker reached third. Yoel Romero then ripped an RBI double to left field, extending Binghamton's lead 5-0.

The Sea Dogs will have an off-day tomorrow before taking on the Somerset Patriots (AA - New York Yankees) at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey beginning on Tuesday, August 10th at 7:05pm.
