Conley Belts a Homer in R-Phils Loss to Richmond

The Reading Fightin Phils were shut out by the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Saturday night. Reading's one run came from Jack Conley's fourth homer of the season.

The R-Phils recorded four other hits: two off the bat of Bryson Stott, including his 15th double of the season, and singles from Matt Kroon and Chris Cornelius.

Richmond started off the scoring in the bottom of the first as an RBI single from Diego Rincones plated Bryan Torres.

Then in the fourth, Mitchell Tolman reached on a double and was brought home by Jacob Heyward to lead 2-0.

Reading cut the lead in half thanks to a solo shot to left from Conley.

Francisco Morales worked a quality six innings allowing four hits and two earned runs. He tied his season high strikeout count with nine. Carlo Reyes took the seventh allowing just one hit. Brian Marconi pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the eighth with two strikeouts.

The Fightin Phils return home on Tuesday night against the Akron RubberDucks for Carlos Ruiz Baseballtown Hall of Fame night beginning at 6:45.
