(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm of the ECHL announced today that they have resigned forward Scooter Smith and defenseman P.J. Martin to contracts. Player bios are included on page 2.

Smith, a native of Calgary, Alberta, collected 39 points (13g, 26a) in just 41 games last season with the Storm. Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Nick Vitucci talked about Smith, "Scooter really produced for us last year despite playing just half a season. I expect him to continue to improve as he heads into his third season." Scooter appeared in the Grand Rapids Griffins (American Hockey League) camp earlier this season. In 2003-04, Smith was most productive with the Reading Royals where in 48 games he collected 10 goals and added 16 assists. Scooter also played 11 games with the Trenton Titans, and 8 games with the Dayton Bombers during his first professional season. Smith played his college hockey at Colgate University. Over the course of four seasons, Scooter appeared in 126 contests scoring 48 goals and 44 assists.

Martin, who participated in both Nashville's (National Hockey League) and Milwaukee's (AHL) camps this season, appeared in 66 games with Toledo a season ago. In those contests, P.J. tallied 7 goals and added 19 assists. In 2004-05, Martin also played 5 games in the AHL with Milwaukee and Worcester netting 1 assist. "PJ is as solid as it gets for a defenseman," said Vitucci. "He is very skilled and makes a lot of plays for us." As an offensive defenseman, P.J. put up 8 goals along with 15 assists for the Titans in his first pro campaign (2003-04). Martin also played 7 games in the AHL that year with Manchester, Springfield, and Binghamton.
