Gladiators sign Durno and Pelletier

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have signed forwards Chris Durno and Pascal Pelletier for the 2005-06 season.

Durno comes to the Gladiators after attending training camp in the American Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen. Durno will begin his third professional season, all with the Gladiators.

The Scarborough, Ontario native led the Gladiators in post season scoring during the 2005 Kelly Cup playoffs with 7 points off of 5 goals and 2 assists. He shared first in scoring on the Gladiators with 12 points during the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs.

Durno finished last season as one of four 20 goal scorers on the Gladiators. It was his second consecutive season with 20 or more goals in a year. He posted a career high 36 assists last year and ranked second on the team with 4 game winning goals.

The Gladiators acquired Pascal Pelletier last season in a trade with the Louisiana IceGators on March 22nd in exchange for Peter Flache.

In six games with the Gladiators, Pelletier posted an assist for Gwinnett. He finished the year with 10 goals and 29 assists for 39 points and 2 power play goals.

The Labrador City, Newfoundland native only ranked 4th on the team while posting 101 points with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL during the 2002-03 season. The 5-foot-10, 197-pound forward recorded 91 points during his final season in the QMJHL with the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The Gwinnett Gladiators open the 2005-06 ECHL season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center hosting the Charlotte Checkers on October 21st.
