
Former Atlantic City, Idaho Announcer Simpson Joins Bruins Broadcast Team

BOSTON - New England Sports Network (NESN) has hired former Atlantic City
and Idaho play-by-play announcer Rob Simpson as the rink-side reporter for
Boston Bruins telecasts.
Simpson, who has 19 years of radio and television broadcasting experience
and who worked the 2002 ECHL All-Star Game, will be providing updates and
interviews before the game, between periods and after the game, while also
producing and hosting NESN's weekly Bruins program "Granite City Electric
Bruins Breakaway".
Simpson was "Voice of the Steelheads" from the team's inaugural season in
1997-98 to 2000-01 and was the "Voice of the Boardwalk Bullies" from the
team's inaugural season in 2001-02 to 2002-03. The Detroit native spent the
past four years as producer and host of "Maple Leaf America", a program
that he created for Maple Leafs Television. The 30-minute weekly show
focused on former Leafs players and Leafs fans across the United States. He
also did play-by-play, color commentary and sideline reports for regional
sports networks covering hockey and soccer.
A graduate of Central Michigan University, Simpson began his career in Ft.
Myers, Florida as a reporter for WINK-TV and moved to KGMB-TV in Honolulu
where he served in a variety of roles including sports reporter and weekend
sports anchor. He worked five seasons with the Boise Hawks professional
baseball team, calling more than 400 games on the radio while producing and
hosting more than 50 episodes of "Hawk Talk", a weekly television magazine
show. In four seasons with the Steelheads, he broadcast more than 300 games
on radio and televisions while producing and hosting more than 50 episodes
of the team's weekly magazine show. He was the play-by-play broadcaster for
the 1999 WCHL All-Star Game and worked as the rink-side reporter for the
2000 WCHL All-Star Game.
