Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that they will be raising money for the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation on Wednesday, October 19th at the Classic Café in Bern Township. Royals players and staff will be waiting tables, thus being âAt Your Service,' from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Royals general manager Gordon Kaye is excited to be reaching out to the community, "We are always looking for innovative ways to better serve those less fortunate in the Reading community. We think that Royals âAt Your Service' will be a fun event for everyone, and at the same time helping those in need. We are very proud to have Quadrant as a partner in this endeavor this year!"
Admission to the buffet-served event is $10.00 per person with ALL of the proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish. In addition, any tips gathered from the Royals players and staff will be donated to the Make-A-Wish.
This will be the first official chance to meet the 2005-06 Reading Royals under new head coach Karl Taylor. If you are interested in attending, please reserve your table as soon as possible by calling Brenna at 610-898-7311 by Monday, October 17.
"Quadrant is thrilled to be part of the Royals efforts to help people in need. The good work being done by the Royals players and staff make the Quadrant team proud to be a part of the effort," stated Kress Schwartz, Quadrant's director of communications.
The Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation has grown steadily with the help of caring organizations like the Reading Royals. Thirteen wishes were fulfilled in 1983, which was when the chapter was founded. Now, 22 years later, more than 7,000 wishes have been completed. At any given time, there are between 350 and 375 wishes pending. It is generosity of organizations like the Reading Royals that allow the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant wishes to the children that qualify with life-threatening medical conditions. Granting a wish to a child has been proven to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The Royals will begin the 2005-06 season with a pair of preseason games with the defending Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans. On Saturday, October 15 the two clubs will meet in Monmouth, New Jersey, then battle again two days later on Monday, October 17 in the Body Zone Sports and Fitness Complex.
The Royals 5th Anniversary Season officially begins at home in the Sovereign Center on Saturday, October 29 against the Titans. The Royals will raise the North Division regular season championship banner prior to the drop of the puck.
