Sarthou Leads Americans Past Silvertips
January 30, 2016 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Tri-City Americans News Release
Kennewick, WA- The Tri-City Americans (21-25-2-0, 44 pts) treated the 4,642 fans to the Evan Sarthou show, as he played great in a 29 save performance, leading the Americans over the Everett Silvertips (28-15-2-2, 60 pts) on Friday Night.
The first period was a defensive battle as neither team had many great scoring chances. The Americans got on the board first midway through the period. A bouncing puck dropped in front of Jordan Topping standing in front of the Everett net, banging home a shot for a 1-0 lead after the first period.
The Americans added to the lead 14:40 into the second. A 3-on-1 chance allowed Parker Bowles to find Parker Wotherspoon at the back door, tapping the puck in for a 2-0 lead. Everett would answer three minutes later, as Patrick Bajkov fired a shot over the shoulder of Evan Sarthou to cut the advantage to 2-1 after two periods.
It was a battle in the third period to see which team would come away victorious, with the Silvertips holding a 6-4 shot advantage. But Evan Sarthou was on his game tonight, turning away every shot en route to the victory.
Tri-City has won a season-high four straight home games.
Both the Americans and Silvertips didn't score with a lone power play opportunity. Each team recorded four penalty minutes.
Carter Hart made 15 saves in the loss.
Tri-City is back in action tomorrow, Jan. 30, against the rival Spokane Chiefs (23-19-3-2, 49 pts). Game time is at 7:05 p.m. at Spokane Arena.
