Medicine Hat Tigers News Release

Medicine Hat, AB -- The Medicine Hat Tigers came into Saturday's game looking to carry momentum from Friday night's victory over the Moose Jaw Warriors. The Raiders came in losers of 4 straight games and both were in the midst of 3 games in 3 nights.

The Tigers got out to a good start as they were able to carry the play on the Raiders. Nick Schneider saw every thrown his way in a 15 shot period for the visitors. Steven Owre would get the Tigers on the board first with an early power play, netting his 11th of the year as he roofed a puck past the screened Ian Scott. Medicine Hat was also shorthanded on this night as Matt Bradley was absent from the Tigers lineup with an undisclosed injury. The Tigers carried the 1-0 lead into the intermission.

In the second frame, the Raiders would take over, scoring three time on the Tabbies as their defensive system seemed to falter at times. Multiple long shifts and resulted in some good chances on their goaltender and just 17 seconds in, Tim Vanstone drove the net and a puck bounced off his skate and into the net to tie the game at 1's. Prince Albert would score twice more in the period to take a 3-1 lead. The biggest play in the frame was a penalty shot awarded to Mason Shaw. Shaw made a move, looking to go five hole but was stopped by Scott point blank, holding the Tigers to just 1 goal through 40 minutes.

A comeback was brewing for the Tabbies as Mason Shaw would get the scoring started in the final 20 minutes, cutting into the lead with a high hard slap shot. Just a minute later David Quenneville would make it a 1 goal game as a point blast on the power play made its way through Scott. Medicine Hat would push for the equalizer and Schneider stood tall, but it was the Raiders who sealed the deal with an empty netter to take the game 5-3.
