Vancouver Giants News Release

Kamloops, B.C. - Ty Ronning scored with two seconds left in overtime to lift the Vancouver Giants to a 4-3 victory over the Kamloops Blazers on Friday night at the Sandman Centre. Ben Thomas, Chase Lang and Trevor Cox also scored for Vancouver in the win.

Thomas opened the scoring for Vancouver in the first period, wiring a wrist shot past Kamloops goaltender Connor Ingram from the right circle. Gage Quinney equalized for the Blazers just over three minutes later, shovelling the puck across the goal line on a net drive off the right wing.

Lang put Vancouver back on top late in the middle frame, deflecting a Brennan Menell point shot past Ingram, but Dallas Valentine tied the game for Kamloops again, finding the net on his own rebound.

The Giants took the lead again in the third period when Cox tipped another Menell point shot into the back of the goal. Quinney made it 3-3 with his second goal of the night, chipping a rebound between the legs of Vancouver goalie Ryan Kubic.

Kamloops defenseman Nolan Kneen hit the post in overtime, and neither side could find the winning goal until Lang drove to the net from the left wing in the dying seconds and passed in front to Ronning who buried a one-timer to end the game.

Kubic stopped 36 of 39 Kamloops shots in the win.

The Giants will return to action on Saturday night when they host the Lethbridge Hurricanes at the Pacific Coliseum. Puck drop is at 7:00pm. For tickets, go to TicketLeader.ca or call 604.4.GIANTS (604.444.2687).
