
Royals Outscore Rockets; Beat Kelowna 4-1

The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-1 on Saturday night at Prospera Place, snapping the Rockets five game winning streak in the process.
Victoria's Matthew Phillips snapped a 1-1 tie with a goal late in the second period and the Royals added two more in the third period to earn the win.
Kelowna fell to 34-12-3-0 on the season, four points ahead of the Royals in the race for first in the WHL BC Division as well as the Western Conference.
The Rockets opened the scoring in the game as Justin Kirkland scored a short-handed marker to give the Rockets a brief lead. However the Royals tied the game with a power play goal just a few minutes later.
Victoria scored three power play goals on four chances while the Rockets were 0-for-4 with the man advantage in the game.
Michael Herringer suffered the loss in net as the Royals outshot Kelowna 34-23 in the game.
The Rockets are back in action on Sunday as the team will head to Seattle for a 5 p.m. start against the Thunderbirds.
Kelowna returns to Prospera Place on Tuesday when they take on the WHL-leading Lethbridge Hurricanes. The Rockets will hold a promotion called Faceoff Fury on Tuesday where many great prizes will be up for grabs including return airfare to Victoria.
