Kansas City Monarchs News Release
Behind two homers and five RBI from Pichi Balet, the Lincoln Saltdogs took the series finale from the Kansas City T-Bones, 9-3, and averted a sweep at the hands of the first-place T-Bones.
Kansas City got on the board in the top of the first inning when Eddie Pearson hit a mammoth three-run homer, his ninth of the season, off the scoreboard in right field. Those would be the only runs against Rodaway, who settled down immediately after the longball and retired thirteen in a row and seventeen of eighteen.
Rodaway went the distance in earning his fourth win of the season. It was the third time the Lincoln southpaw has hurled a complete game this season.
Both of Balet's homers came against T-Bones starter Jonathan Krysa, who had cruised through the first two innings without allowing a hit. Balet socked a two-run shot in the third immediately after a two-run single from Bryan Warner; his homer in the fifth was to left and plated three.
Lincoln scored two in the sixth for the final margin, with a wild pitch and an error leading to both Saltdog runs.
The T-Bones return home tomorrow for a three-game set against the Joliet JackHammers. Monday and Tuesday will be 7:05 contests, while Wednesday is slated for 11:05 am. Please check www.tbonesbaseball.com for the promotions calendar!
Notes: Eddie Pearson is tied for the league lead in homers with nine... Jon McDonald will start tomorrow against Joliet... the multi-RBI effort was Pearson's seventh of the season in 21 games... Adam Clay worked a scoreless ninth for the T-Bones.
