The Winnipeg Goldeyes sent 13 batters to the plate in the 5th inning Saturday night, scoring seven runs enroute to an 8-7 win over the Edmonton Cracker-Cats at TELUS Field.

Edmonton held a 6-0 lead after four innings. Left-hander Mike Kusiewicz was cruising along with a two-hit shutout until the rain came. After an hour delay it was obvious his arm had cooled off. He surrendered six earned runs on five hits before leaving the ball game. Harry Berrios hit a two run homer, his 4th, to highlight the attack.

Left-hander Keith Black made his first Edmonton appearance in relief and took the loss. Black pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowed two runs, one earned, on one hit, one strikeout, five walks, a hit batter, and one wild pitch. Southpaw Roger Lincoln tossed two innings of scoreless relief to earn his first win of the season. Hard throwing Darwin Soto struck out three batters through the 8th and 9th innings to earn his third save.

The marathon lasted four hours and 14 minutes in front of 3061 rain soaked fans. Winnipeg improves to 7-14 while Edmonton falls to 10-11.

The series ends on Sunday afternoon at 1:35 with right-handers Ira Brown (0-2) and Shawn Sedlacek (0-2) taking the mound for Edmonton and Winnipeg, respectively.
