Edmonton Capitals News Release

(Edmonton, Canada --September 19, 2011) The Edmonton Capitals and the North American Baseball League are proud to announce that the San Francisco Giants have purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Tom Boleska. Dominant all season long, he posted a 2.11 ERA while recording 11 saves in 33 appearances for the Caps. After being released from AA ball in spring training this year, he was immediately picked up by the Capitals and anchored their bullpen. His ability to get batters out in crucial situations was key to the team's success, as he had 56 strikeouts and only 11 walks in 47 innings.

"Tom has been one of the most reliable pitchers I have had all season" said Edmonton Capitals manager Irv Franchuk "When he is on the mound you can feel our team's confidence level rise. He should do very well with the Giants."

Boleska, 6-0, 195 lb, right-handed pitcher was originally drafted in 35th round of the 2007 amateur draft by the Pittsburg Pirates. The native of Quebec, Canada has reached as high as AA ball. Used primarily out of the bullpen by the Capitals, he helped them win the North Division Championship in the North American League and then closed out the final two wins of the Championship Series as Edmonton defeated Rio Grande Valley 4 games to 1.
