El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The El Paso Chihuahuas had an early 4-0 lead but a seven-run fifth inning kept Salt Lake ahead to stay in the Bees' 8-7 win Tuesday. Rocky Gale went 5-for-6 for El Paso in the loss, joining Abraham Almonte as the only Chihuahuas' players in team history to collect five hits in one game.

The Chihuahuas rallied late, scoring twice in the seventh and once in the eighth to get within one run. Salt Lake center fielder Gary Brown made a leaping catch at the left-center field wall in the top of the eighth inning to rob Rymer Liriano with two runners on.

The Chihuahuas' leadoff batter reached base in each of the first eight innings Tuesday. El Paso left 13 runners on in the game.

The Chihuahuas won three of four games on the road trip to Salt Lake. El Paso accumulated 32 runs and 48 hits in the series, while scoring in 19 different innings.
