Round Rock Express to Auction Autographed, Game-Worn Stars and Stripes Caps for "Team Jana"
July 8, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release
ROUND ROCK, Texas - On Saturday, July 11, the Round Rock Express will auction off the autographed, limited edition Stars and Stripes caps worn by the players and coaches during Red, White and Blue Weekend to benefit Team Jana. The Express take on the New Orleans Zephyrs with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch Saturday.
Jana Almendarez, wife of Express General Manager Chris Almendarez, has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, a rare brain tumor that effects just 20,000 - 200,000 people in the United States each year. All funds raised in the auction will go directly to the Almendarez family to help offset the multitude of unexpected expenses the family is now facing.
"It's the least we could do for Jana, who's going through a tough fight," said Express manager Jason Wood on the team's decision to donate their caps for the cause. "I want her to know that not only this team, but this entire staff and organization are behind her. We wish her the best and a fast, quick recovery. We'll beat this thing!"
Fans can bid on these one-of-a-kind caps in a silent auction on the concourse behind home plate starting at 5:30 p.m. The auction will close promptly at 8:30 p.m.
Please join us in supporting Jana at Dell Diamond on Saturday and also online through the hashtag #TeamJana.
