
Z's Drop Series Opener in Texas

Round Rock, TX - Round Rock had a pair of home runs and three pitchers combined to shutout the New Orleans Zephyrs 6-0 in the series opener at The Dell Diamond. The Zephyrs have dropped a season high four consecutive games.
Joey Gallo had two hits including a two run home run and drove home three RBI for the Express. The Express scored a pair in the third inning and added a pair in the seventh and eighth innings. Former Zephyr and Miami Marlins infielder Ed Lucas connected on a two run home run in the eighth inning to cap the contest.
Chi Chi Gonzalez (4-5) returned from the Texas Rangers and allowed three hits in five innings to earn the win. Phil Klein and Will Lamb worked the final four innings to combine for the seven hit shut-out.
Z's starter Andre Rienzo (2-5) allowed four runs in seven innings for the loss.
Brady Shoemaker and Juan Diaz each had two hits for New Orleans. The shutout is the second in three days for the Z's offense and the fifth of the season.
The Zephyrs are 40-46 on the season, trail Round Rock by 10 1/2 games.
GAME NOTES
The Zephyrs added outfielder Marcell Ozuna and pitcher Jarred Cosart from the Miami Marlins. To make room, the Z's released Pat Misch and Scott Sizemore. Ozuna was 1x4 in his Triple-A debut.
The Zephyrs have been shutout five times this season, but four times in their last 24 games.
