Colorado Springs Sky Sox News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO - The Colorado Springs Sky Sox and the Pacific Coast League have announced that Sky Sox reliever David Goforth has been named to the PCL All-Star Team as a replacement for Tyler Cravy who was recalled by the Milwaukee Brewers on July 3. He joins pitching coach Fred Dabney as the Sky Sox representatives at the First National Bank 2015 Triple-A All-Star Game which will be played at Werner Park in Omaha, NE, home of the Storm Chasers, on Wednesday, July 15 starting at 6:05 PM MDT. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network.
Goforth, 26, is 0-3 with a 2.84 ERA (10 ER/31.2 IP) with 26 strikeouts and two saves in 25 appearances with the Sky Sox this season. He leads all qualifying Sky Sox relievers in ERA and is holding Pacific Coast League batters to a .226 average.
Goforth was promoted to Milwaukee on May 25 and made his Major League debut with the Brewers on May 26 with 0.2 scoreless innings against San Francisco. In four appearances with the Brewers, Goforth tossed 2.1 scoreless innings.
The All-Star appearance will be the third in three years for Goforth. He was a Florida State League All-Star in 2013 after going 7-5 with a 3.10 ERA (27 ER/78.1 IP) in 14 starts with Class-A Brevard County. He was a Southern League mid and postseason All-Star in 2014 after going 5-4 with a 3.76 ERA (27 ER/64.2 IP) and a league-leading 27 saves in 33 opportunities while with Double-A Huntsville.
Originally drafted by the Brewers in the seventh round of the June 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Mississippi, Goforth is 26-27 with a 3.90 ERA in 160 games including 46 starts in his professional career. Entering the 2015 season, Goforth was rated as the 12th-best prospect in the Brewers Organization by Baseball America. He was rated by the same publication as the organization's 8th-best prospect prior to the 2014 season.
