Sky Sox Catcher Christian Bethancourt Named to All-PCL Team

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Colorado Springs Sky Sox catcher Christian Bethancourt has been named to the 2018 All-PCL team, the Pacific Coast League announced Monday.
Bethancourt, in his first season with the Brewers since signing as a free agent on January 8, 2018, was selected to the All-PCL squad as catcher. In 67 games (551.1 innings) behind the dish for the Sky Sox, Bethancourt boasts a .993 fielding percentage with just four errors and 31 assists while holding a .425 caught stealing-stolen bases against percentage, good for third-best in the category across the league.
In July, the Panama native represented Colorado Springs as the Pacific Coast League's All-Star starting catcher. Bethancourt was named a post-season All-Star in 2013 with Double-A Mississippi in the Southern League and selected as a mid-season All-Star twice before this season in 2012 and 2013 while with Double-A Mississippi (Braves) in the Southern League. He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star for three straight seasons from 2012 to 2014 in Atlanta's organization.
He is currently batting .292 over 94 games with 63 RBI, a .322 on-base percentage and 19 home runs.
Bethancourt becomes the 12th Sky Sox player and the first catcher to be named to the All-PCL team over the past 13 seasons.

The Sky Sox continue into the final game against the Oklahoma City Dodgers today at 6:05 p.m. MT at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark before heading to Omaha. The team returns home for their final regular-season homestand of 2018 on August 31 when they host the Dodgers for five more games.
