From the Notes
Looking for 1,500: Since the Sounds joined the Pacific Coast League in 1998 they have compiled 1,499 wins. Nashville reached another milestone on August 3 when they defeated Fresno for their 3,000th win in franchise history. In the PCL era the Sounds are 1,499-1,488, which is a winning percentage of .502.
Driving Them In: Anthony Garcia drove in two more runs yesterday to bring his season total to 85, which is a career-high. His 85 RBI are the tied for second most by any player in Oakland's organization with Double-A Midland's Seth Brown and is behind Khris Davis who has driven in 103 this season for the Athletics.
Starting Off: Yesterday Danny Coulombe became the 21st different pitcher to start a game for the Sounds this season. Only Las Vegas has used more starting pitchers this season with 22. Fresno has used the fewest starting pitchers with 11. The Sounds had 23 different starting pitchers in 2017.
First Inning Woes: Raul Alcantara, tonight's starter for the Nashville Sounds, has struggled in the first inning of games. In his eight starts he has a first inning ERA of 10.13 (8.0 IP/9 ER). As a team the Sounds have posted a first inning ERA of 4.98 (132.0 IP/73 ER).
K's For Days: Sheldon Neuse struck out twice yesterday to bring his season total to 168, which is now the most in a single season by a Sounds player in franchise history. Neuse surpassed Joe Koshansky, who was fanned 166 times in 2009, for franchise record. Neuse's 168 strikeouts this season are the second most in the PCL and sixth most in all of MiLB. After 10 more strikeouts yesterday the Sounds have now been fanned 1,153 times on the season, which is the second most in a season in franchise history. The 2017 ball club set the franchise mark by striking out 1,217 times.
