July 8, 2015 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (47-39) took the series opener with the Iowa Cubs (45-41) by a score of 7-2, their third win in four games against the Cubs at Werner Park. During the four-game winning streak, the Storm Chasers have scored seven runs or more and have double-digit hits in each contest.

The Omaha offense was led by Brett Eibner's five-RBI night, which was capped by his three-run homer in the eighth inning that put the game out of reach. Eibner got the Storm Chasers on the board in the second and gave Omaha their first lead of the night in the fifth inning, both with RBI doubles. The three extra-base hits for Eibner nearly matched his total of four in the previous 28 games, and the outfielder has six extra-base hits in his last three contests. He leads the team with ten homers and 41 RBI.

Storm Chasers starter Andy Ferguson allowed two runs in the first two innings, including a solo homer to Cubs top prospect Kyle Schwarber in the first, but after he let across the second run he retired his final 13 batters. Reliever Matt Murray came on with three shutout innings, allowing just one baserunner, to notch his first Triple-A save. The Storm Chasers pitching staff faced the minimum over the final seven innings, and retired 21 out of the final 22 Cubs batters.

The four straight games with seven runs or more for Omaha matches their four games with seven runs or more in the previous 39 contests. The Storm Chasers also have six straight games with double-digit hits, their longest such streak of the 2015 season, and are batting .335 (84-for-251) in the month of July as a team.

LHP John Lamb (9-1, 2.62 ERA), the Pacific Coast League leader in wins, will take the hill tomorrow for Omaha and will face off with Iowa RHP Frank Batista (0-2, 6.00 ERA). First pitch on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and Cox Channel 126 is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
