Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC -In a Friday night match-up the Victoria Salmon Kings and Idaho Steelheads met in the second of a four-game set at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. Goaltender Todd Ford started in net for the Salmon Kings, while the Steelheads countered with Matt Climie.
The Salmon Kings struck first when Brady Leavold tallied his sixth goal of the season. Patrick Coulombe came down the left wing where he handed a pass to Olivier Filion. The Kings' center-man took a backhand shot where it hit a few bodies in front of the net, the puck then was lifted in the air and Leavold waited until it got under the cross bar and batted home his third goal in the last three games. Salmon Kings took the lead into the locker room through one period 1-0.
The Salmon Kings increased their lead to 2-0 when Leavold got his second of the game. Darryl Lloyd put the puck in front of the net where it took a few bounces before going off Adam Taylor. Leavold found the puck and made no mistake jamming it home for his seventh of the year. As the second period came to an end, the Salmon Kings had a 2-0 lead through 40 minutes.
The Steelheads poured on the pressure in the third period, but could not get the puck pass Ford as he tallied his fourth shutout of the season. Salmon Kings 2 Steelheads 0.
Victoria finished 0/5 = 0.0% on the power play, while Idaho finished 0/5= 0.0%. The Salmon Kings outshot the Steelheads 30-22.
