Relay At The Rink Continues

Wheeling Nailers News Release


WHEELING, W.Va. - The first 2,500 fans in attendance at tonight's 7:35 p.m. game against the Reading Royals will receive a free B.E. Taylor bobble head, and all fans will get to enjoy a free 1-hour concert by Taylor following the game.

Wheeling is coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Dayton Bombers last night. The Nailers entered the third period of yesterday's game trailing by three goals, but managed to send the game into overtime on goals by Reid Cashman, Kelly Miller and Billy Ryan. Curtis Darling turned aside 34 shots.

The Nailers conclude their three 3-game weekend home stand tomorrow with a 4:05 p.m. contest against the Reading Royals. The game is Sunday Family Funday, where fans have the opportunity to skate with the Nailers after the game. Fans should bring their own skates and gloves to participate. Tomorrow is also Pups N Pucks day, where fans are allowed to bring their dogs to the game for free.

Last Time Out

Wheeling: Down 3-0 entering the third period against the Dayton Bombers last night, the Nailers scored three third-period goals to force overtime. The Nailers, however, went on to lose in a shootout, 4-3.

Reading: The Royals lost to the Trenton Devils last night, 4-2. Tyler Doig and Vince Rocco paced the Royals with one goal apiece.

The Nailers are 4-4-0-0 against Reading this season. The Royals have won the last three games, including wins on March 11 (4-2), Feb. 21 (5-2) and Jan. 30 (3-1). Wheeling is 14-12-1-2 in the last five years against Reading.

Newest Nailer

Forward Chris Margott was signed by the Nailers today. Margott recently concluded his collegiate career with Robert Morris University.

Kalinchuk's First

Defenseman Scott Kalinchuk, signed on Friday by the Nailers, recorded his first professional assist on Kelly Miller's third period goal yesterday against the Dayton Bombers. Kalinchuk recently concluded his collegiate career with the University of Alabama-Huntsville.
