Carolina Mudcats News Release

Chattanooga, TN --- Kyle Russelll hit two homers, including one in the eighth against Aroldis Chapman as the Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the Carolina Mudcats 7-4 at AT&T Field on Tuesday night.

Chapman, who had his major league rehab assignment transferred to the Mudcats prior to the game, entered with a 4-4 tie, and allowed three runs on three hits. The eighth started with a weak single to right field by Elian Herrera, followed by Alfredo Silverio tripling to center off of Denis Phipps' outstretched glove to give Chattanooga (27-32) a 5-4 lead. A wild pitch scored Silverio, with Russell connecting for his eighth home run in 13 games against Mudcats pitching, taking out Chapman to right field. Russell homered earlier against James Avery.

The Mudcats (18-41) took a 2-1 lead in the third on a two-run, opposite field homer by Neftali Soto against starter David Pfeiffer.

Carolina led 4-2 in the fifth, when the Lookouts tied the game with two against Avery in his final inning. James Adkins relieved to pitch two scoreless frames to preserve the tie.

Mike Costanzo, who homered to win Monday night's game, went 4-4 with a double to pace the Mudcats' 12-hit attack.

The series, now tied 2-2, moves to Wednesday morning's finale at 11:15 AM ET with Tim Gustafson starting against Michael Antonini.
