Mississippi Braves News Release

Montgomery, AL - The Mississippi Braves fell in Montgomery for the second straight night to the Biscuits, this time by a score of 7-4.

Montgomery (26-33) scored all seven of their runs in the first three innings. A five-run second put the game well out of reach.

Starter JJ Hoover struggled for the Braves (23-36). He allowed six hits for six runs-only four earned-while striking out one over two innings. With the loss, he fell to 2-5 on the season. It's the first time all year he's allowed more than three earned runs in a start.

In a spot start for Montgomery, Paul Phillips was outstanding. He managed 4.2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits. He struck out three and combined with three other pitchers to not allow a single walk. The win went to Sergio Espinosa in relief, his first at the double-A level.

Mississippi would scratch away at the lead all night, plating single runs in each of the third, fifth, seventh and ninth innings. Twice in the game, in the seventh and ninth, Marcus Lemon hit a triple and scored on an Antoan Richardson hit.

Richardson finished the night a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in.
