JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Generals are once again just 1 game back of the Tennessee Smokies in the Southern League North Division. The Generals won Monday 4-2, taking a 2-1 series lead over Tennessee. There are 12 games remaining in the first half. Andrew Carraway (4-0) won his 4th game in his last 5 outings, going 7 innings for the second straight start. Carraway allowed just 1 run on 3 hits, striking out a season high 6 batters and walking just 1. Steve Delabar closed down the 9th with his 4th save of the season. Delabar has not given up a run in 10.2 innings. Chris Rusin (2-2) took the loss for the Smokies. Rusin just allowed 1 earned run in 6 innings. Kyle Seager extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a hit in his final at-bat. Scott Savastano led the Generals, going 2-for-5, with a double and run scored. Brandon Haveman was 1-for-4 and hit his 2nd homerun of the season.

TODAY'S STARTER: RHP Andrew Carraway makes his 6th start of the season tonight for Jackson. Overall it will be his 13th appearance of 2011. Carraway ranks third in the Southern League with a 2.61 ERA. Andrew has won 3 of his last 4 starts logging 7 innings in two of those outings. Carraway was the Mariners 12th round selection in the 2009 draft out of the University of Virginia.
FIRST HALF FINAL STRETCH: The Generals will wrap up the first half with 15 games against the North Division (at Tennessee, at Huntsville, vs. Carolina). Jackson has played 45 games against the South Division (24-21), as opposed to 12 games against their own division, the North (11-2). Jackson will play 88 of their 140 games against the South Division.
START ME UP: The Generals have the Southern League's best ERA at 3.70. The last 4 starters for Jackson, Erasmo Ramirez Jarrett Grube and Anthony Vasquez have combined to go 29.1 innings. Generals starters have gone 6 or more innings 32 times. The Generals are 26-6 in those games.
ALL STARS: The Generals will have 6 representatives on the North Divison All-Star team on June 21st at Pringles Park. Pitchers Andrew Carraway, Jarrett Grube and Kenn Kasparek were joined by second baseman Kyle Seager and outfielder Jake Shaffer.
I-40 SERIES...A RARITY: The top two teams in the Southern League meet for the first and only time at Smokies Park. The Smokies have the leagues best record at 36-22, while Jackson has the second best, 35-23. The two teams will meet just 10 times in 2011 and will not meet again until August 16-20 at Pringles Park. Last season the Generals played 19 games against the Smokies, including the Southern League North Division Series. The Diamond Jaxx were 8-11 in those games.
I FEEL A DRAFT: In the first day of the 2011 MLB Amateur Draft, the Mariners slected LHP Danny Hultzen with 2nd overall pick...Hultzen was named one of three finalists for 2011 Golden Spikes Award...Hultzen is 31-5 with 2.18 ERA (74 ER, 305.1 IP) in 48 games, 47 starts in collegiate career.rounds 2-50 will be held Today & Wednesday.Seattle also selects at Nos. 62, 92, 121 and 123.
