Rapid City Rush News Release
(BRAMPTON, ON) - Jesse Schultz recorded another 2-goal performance in the series and Danny Battochio stopped all but 1 of the 28 shots thrown towards his net, as the Rapid City Rush won their seventh straight game against the Brampton Beast by a 3-1 final on Sunday afternoon.
After 29:58 of scoreless hockey, the Rush would once again open the scoring entries. With 9:58 gone by in the second, Jeremy Gates, making his return to the lineup off of IR, rifled a shot off of Dean Willmott's head, with the puck bouncing to Cody Ferrieo's feet. Ferriero unloaded a shot that was stopped by Beast goaltender Parker VanBuskirk, but Jesse Schultz tapped home the rebound to give the Rush a 1-0 lead. Exactly 20 seconds later, Kevin Harvey finished a Winston Day Chief pass on an odd-man rush, doubling the visitors lead to 2-0 at 10:18 of the second period.
Jesse Schultz' second of the night in the final period tripled the Rush lead to 3-0. Dylan Clarke sprung Schultz on a breakaway, and Schultz beat VanBuskirk over the glove with 7:02 left in the game. Brampton eventually got on the board with Mathew Maione's back-door one-timer on the final Beast power play of the game with 5:39 left in regulation. The Rush held on towards the end of the game, and ultimately secured a sweep of the Beast with their 3-1 win.
Danny Battochio won his 7th consecutive game in his 10th consecutive start, stopping 27 of 28 shots thrown his way (24-17-2). Kevin Harvey scored a goal in all 3 games this weekend, and finished with 5 points (3 G, 2 Ast).
The Rush head back home to take on the Missouri Mavericks on Wednesday night, April 1st, with puck drop slated for 6:35 p.m. MST at Premier Home Mortgage Ice at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
