March 29, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder kill off six of their seven shorthanded opportunities and get goals from Vinny Scarsella and Bryon Paulazzo, but it wasn't enough as the Alaska Aces defeated the Thunder 4-2 Sunday evening at Stockton Arena. Scarsella's power-play goal gave him a point in back-to-back games and put the two helpers, Tyler Shattock and Tyler Maxwell, on three-game point streaks of their own, while Bryon Paulazzo scored what was undoubtedly one of the best goals of the Thunder's season, as he jumped around the Aces defender and tapped the puck through the goalie while falling to the ice. However, the Thunder drop their 89th and final contest with Alaska. The Thunder will be back on the ice Saturday, April 4 in Ontario, as the Thunder will play their final game against the Reign this season.

Quotes

"[Tyler Shattock] made a nice move to get the puck over to [Tyler Maxwell]. I got lost in the crowd a bit and Maxwell made a really nice pass to get the puck to me and all I had to do was tap it into the open net." - Vinny Scarsella on his power-play goal.

"There were a lot of penalties tonight, but I thought our killers were really good tonight. They caught us off guard and executed pretty well on their five-on-three chance, but other than that our penalty kill was good." - Head Coach Rich Kromm on the penalty kill playing well tonight.

"The five-minute kill we had early gave us a good boost I thought early. We didn't give them a lot of opportunities on it and I think we definitely generated some momentum from that." - Coach Kromm on the five-minute penalty kill just two minutes into the game.

"I thought [Kent Simpson] was pretty steady for us in net tonight. Obviously the five-on-three goal, he's not going to have a chance on that and the tip in the high slot that took a wild bounce on him can't be blamed on him either. I thought he was really solid for us and did what he needed to do." - Coach Kromm on goaltender Kent Simpson's performance.
