RubberDucks Topped by New Hampshire 6-1

New Hampshire's Jon Harris tossed six innings of hitless ball, and Bo Bichette clocked a two-run homer, as the Fisher Cats cruised to a 6-1 win over the Akron RubberDucks Tuesday night at Canal Park in Akron, Ohio.

Turning Point

Bichette ripped a two-run homer to left off Triston McKenzie (1-1) in the fourth inning. It came after McKenzie hit Jon Berti to lead off the inning. The homer gave the Cats a 2-0 lead. It was Bichette's fifth homer of the year.

Mound Presence

Harris (4-3) was dominant for six innings, holding the RubberDucks hitless and issuing just one walk. He opened the game by striking out Sam Haggerty and then walked Andrew Calica. After that, Harris retired the final 17 batters he faced. He tossed 89 pitches, 56 of which were strikes. He fanned six. McKenzie worked 4.1 innings in his Canal Park debut, and was charged with four runs, three earned.

Duck Tales

Joe Sever picked up Akron's only hit when he broke up the no-hitter against left-hander Danny Young in the seventh. He scored on a groundout and a wild pitch to make it 6-1. It was Sever's 19thdouble, which ties him for second in the EL.


Berti cracked a bases-clearing triple in the fifth inning off Matt Whitehouse to make it 5-0...Bichette brought him in with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-0 and collect his third RBI of the night...Two of the runs were charged to McKenzie...The Fisher Cats (38-25) are in first place in the EL East...The start of the game was delayed 29 minutes due to light rain...Time of game: 2:39... Attendance: 2,682.

The RubberDucks (36-28) and Fisher Cats will play the middle game of the series on Wednesday at 7:05. The game will be broadcast on Fox Sports 1350 AM, the WARF iHeart channel, and the TuneIn Radio App.
