Turning Point
Trailing 1-0 entering the fourth inning, the Ducks offense quickly loaded the bases when Alex Call doubled for the first Akron hit of the game followed by a walk to Bo Naylor and a Trenton Brooks single. Chris Roller singled home both Call and Naylor to give Akron the lead. An Oscar Gonzalez RBI single and Andruw Monasterio sac-fly gave Akron a 4-1 lead and they would never look back.
Mound Presence
Shane McCarthy settled in quickly after allowing a run in the first to toss 3 innings allowing just two hits while striking out two. Thomas Ponticelli came in out of the pen and found himself in trouble in the fourth, but would get a big fly out to Call in center to get out of trouble. Ponticelli would make quick work of the Rumble Ponies in the fifth and sixth before giving way to Francisco Pérez. Pérez would strike out three of the five batters he faced. Dakody Clemmer would finish out the game with an inning and a third of strong work.
Duck Tales
The RubberDucks offense came alive in the fourth inning when Alex Call led off the inning with the Ducks' first hit of the ballgame, lacing a double down the left field line. Then Chris Roller came to the plate with the bases loaded and found the outfield grass, good for a two-run single which gave the RubberDucks their first lead. Oscar Gonzalez continue his hot streak by singling to left field, which brought home Trenton Brooks to extend the lead to 3-1. Andruw Monasterio would complete the inning with a sacrifice fly to finish up the four run inning.
