Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Richmond, VA - The Yard Goats were swept in a doubleheader by the Richmond Flying Squirrels, losing 2-0 and 9-5 at The Diamond in Virginia. Matt Frisbee and Patrick Ruotolo limited Hartford to just a pair of hits in the opening game. Matt Dennis was the tough luck loser as he allowed just one run over five innings. After surrendering doubles to two of the first three batters, Dennis retired 12 straight Squirrels. Matt McLaughlin had Hartford's only extra base hit. Richmond has won four of the first five games in this six games series. Infielder Sean Bouchard had three hits, including a double and 3 RBI in the second game.
The Flying Squirrels used an eight run fourth inning to get a comfortable lead in game two. Andy Sugiio cracked a two-run single and Sandro Fabian belted a three-run homer in the frame. Down 9-1 heading into the 5th inning, the Yard Goats scored a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Richmond's pitching staff walked 11 batters and Hartford left 11 men stranded in the loss.
The Yard Goats wrap up their six-game series at The Diamond tomorrow afternoon at 1:05PM. RHP Ryan Rolison will pitch for the Yard Goats while RHP Tristan Beck will start for the Flying Squirrels. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com.
