Royals vs. Chiefs Games Postponed
November 11, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Victoria Royals News Release
Victoria, B.C. - The Victoria Royals and Spokane Chiefs games scheduled for this weekend have been postponed for a later date to be announced in the near future.
The Chiefs were due to play their first game against the Royals since the 2019-20 season, but due to two positive COVID-19 results on the Spokane roster, the teams were forced to postpone. As per the WHL, the Spokane Chiefs have paused all team activities, including on-ice practices and off-ice training, pending further test results.
Fans who have purchased tickets for the November 12th and 13th games are asked to hold on to their tickets until the rescheduled date is announced. At that time, the Royals will be offering ticket exchange options for the new dates.
The WHL requires all roster players, hockey operations staff, and other team and League office personnel to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a Health Canada approved vaccine. The health and safety of our players and fans is our top priority and we will continue to work within the WHL guidelines to provide a safe and healthy environment for all SOFMC guests.
In accordance with the WHL policy, the WHL, the Spokane Chiefs and the Victoria Royals will not be commenting further on the situation.
The Royals are back in action next weekend when they head to Kamloops and Vancouver to play back-to-back games against the Blazers and the Giants on the 19th and 20th.
The next Royals home game is on November 26th when the team faces another U.S. Division rival, the Everett Silvertips in the "Hockey for Hospitals" and "Front Line Workers Appreciation Night". For tickets to the game, visit the Victoria Royals ticketing page or call the Select Your Ticket box office at 250-220-7777.
