The Kelowna Rockets closed out their five-game homestand with a 3-2 win over the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, BC.

The Blazers entered the game ranked third in the nation on the Kia CHL Top-10 Rankings, riding a seven-game win streak and an 11-1-0-0 record.

The story of the night for the Rockets was their penalty kill, shutting down all three Blazer power-pay opportunities.

New York Rangers prospect Talyn Boyko made his debut for Kelowna following a trade from the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, the 6'7.5" goaltender stopped 27 of the 29 shots he faced. Centreman Nolan Flamand picked up first star honours after posting a goal and an assist in the win.

Daylan Kuefler (6) put the Blazers on the board first, just 37 seconds into the game. It appeared as though Pavel Novak had tied the game midway through the period after he redirected the puck past Dylan Garand, but the goal was called back due to a high stick. Mark Liwiski (2) made sure it counted with three seconds to go in the first.

Colton Dach (5) extended his point streak to six games with his fifth goal of the season. Josh Pillar (8) tied things up once again early in the second frame. Nolan Flamand (2) scored the game-winner while on the power play late in the period.

The Rockets powerplay was one-for-two on the night.

Kamloops outshot Kelowna 29-27.

Scott Cousins, Marcus Pacheco and Elias Carmichael were the Rockets scratches.

The Rockets will hit the road to face the Prince George Cougars Friday and Saturday night at the CN Centre in Prince George. You can watch all Rockets games on WHL Live on CHL TV. You can also listen to the game on AM1550.
