Connor Bedard Presented with IIHF Championship Ring
November 11, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Regina Pats News Release
Regina, Sask. - Regina Pats forward Connor Bedard was presented with his 2021 IIHF U-18 World Championship ring during a pre-game ceremony on Wednesday night, after he helped Team Canada to a Gold Medal in Dallas, TX last May, along with 22 other CHL players.
Alan Millar, Director of Player Personnel, Hockey Canada, accompanied by Connor's family: father Tom, mother Melanie and sister Maddie, along with Pats governor Shaun Semple and Pats GM John Paddock, presented Bedard with his ring.
Following a perfect 4-0 preliminary round, a quarter-final win over the Czech Republic and a semi-final win over Sweden, Team Canada defeated Russia 5-3 in the gold medal game to win Canada's first U-18 World Championship since 2013.
Bedard was instrumental in this win, co-leading Team Canada in points with 14 (7G, 7A), despite being the youngest player on the team. He scored in the gold medal game too, dazzling with an individual effort that he finished top-shelf on the backhand to even the score in the first period. Bedard was named to the media all-star team at the conclusion of the tournament.
Congratulations to Connor and all CHL players and staff on this outstanding accomplishment.
