Kelowna Rocket alum Lassi Thomson made his NHL debut with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night in Ottawa, becoming the 64th Rocket to play in the NHL.

Thomson, 21, hit the ice with the Senators following his first call up from the American Hockey League due to defenceman Nikita Zaitsev being placed in the NHL's Covid-19 protocol.

The 6'0, 192-pound defenceman has posted two points (1G, 1A), six penalty minutes and -4 plus-minus rating this season with the Belleville Senators of the AHL.

The Tempere, FIN product was selected 19th overall by the Senators out of Kelowna in the 2019 NHL Draft.

Drafted 53rd overall by the Rockets in the 2018 CHL Import Draft, Thomson appeared in 63 games for Kelowna during the 2018-19 season, posting 41 points (17G, 24A) and 40 penalty minutes. He was named the WHL's Western Conference Rookie of the Year and was also earned a spot on the Western Conference Second All-Star team.
