Indy Fuel News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - In the second of eight head-to-head meetings between the two teams this season, the Indy Fuel were outlasted by the Reading Royals by a final score of 2-1 on Sunday at Santander Arena in Reading Pennsylvania. With the loss, the Fuel fell to 3-8-2-1 overall this season and with nine points, remain alone in seventh place in the ECHL's North Division standings.
Reading started quickly on Sunday, chasing starting Indy goaltender Sean Bonar from the Fuel cage with two quick goals, from Cam Reid at 1:50 and Andrew Johnston on the power-play just 37 seconds later, on the Royals' first two shots of the game. Indy responded late in the frame however, as Fuel defenseman Justin Holl fired home his second goal of the season at 14:00, a power-play marker assisted by Rhett Bly and Robert Czarnik that cut the Royals' lead to 2-1 heading into the first intermission.
Despite 40 total Fuel shots on goal, Reading backstop Martin Ouellette held strong throughout the second and third periods to earn the win and Cody Reichard, on in relief on Bonar, made 30 saves for Indy in defeat.
Next up for the Fuel, it's a Thanksgiving showdown at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Thursday vs. the Fort Wayne Komets with the opening faceoff set for 7:30 pm. Full coverage of Thursday's game begins at 7:15 pm on CBS Sports 1430 WXNT-AM, online at www.cbssports1430.com and on smartphones everywhere via the free "TuneIn Radio" app with Fuel broadcaster Tony Brown providing the play-by-play.
