The win was the Royals 20th this season against teams with a winning record, while moving the club to an ECHL-best, 21-1-3 on home ice.
Reading (31-15-8) notched four goals in the first 20 minutes of play, and headed to the first intermission leading 4-0. Masse opened and closed the home team's scoring in the first stanza, with goals by forwards Kent Davyduke (1g, 1a) and Lars Pettersen (1g, 2a)sandwiched in between.
The Royals went scoreless in the second period, but forward Peter Hay (1g, 1a) and defenseman Regan Rome (1g) netted third period markers, to ice the game.
