San Diego Gulls News Release
SAN DIEGO â We're down to the stretch drive in the 2003-04 regular season and the San Diego Gulls continue to make headlines on the ice. But even with the tough schedule, the Blue and Orange continue to branch out in the community.
Here's a look back at some previous events and a look ahead to some of the upcoming events your Gulls will be participating in:
Feb. 9: David Neale and Clayton Read signed autographs at the University of San Diego, promoting a "College Night."
Feb. 9: Billy Tibbetts was again a guest speaker at JAM-Vista Hall Community SVC Program Group, delivering a motivational speech to a group of at-risk youths.
Feb. 11: Mark Pederson and Sylvain Deschatelets filmed a commercial, promoting the Window Factory's new "unbreakable glass." Pederson and Deschatelets took turns taking slap shots at the glass and â after a WHILE â were able to make a few dents.
Feb. 11: Dan Cousineau, Deschatelets, Greg Barber, Clayton Read, Pederson, Trevor Koenig, Tibbetts and David Neale all participated in the inaugural "Dunk-A-Gull," which was a prelude to the 13th annual Tip-A-Gull. The event gave fans a chance to soak their favorite Gulls players in a dunk tank with proceeds benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of San Diego County.
Feb. 12: Cliff Loya and David Burleigh signed autographs and mingled with attendees at the Asset Marketing Systems employee luncheon. The event featured more than 250 employees.
Feb. 21: Pederson and Koenig, who were selected as the Pogy's/JQC Gulls' Players of the Month for January, signed autographs after the San Diego â Las Vegas game.
Feb. 23: Barber, Neale and Cousineau judged the preliminary round of the Gulls' bikini contest at the Pacific Beach Hooters. The contest, which is sponsored by Hooters, has four rounds and the winner will be crowned at the San Diego â Fresno game on March 13.

Feb. 28: Barber will be signing autographs after the San Diego â South Carolina game.
Feb. 29: Pederson and Koenig will appear live on 91x (91.1 FM) with Steve West, promoting that evening's "Tip-A-Gull" event.
Feb. 29: The Gulls will host their 13th annual Tip-A-Gull event from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Dick's Last Resort in Downtown San Diego. The event will feature your favorite Gulls players serving as bartenders and waiters and will also include a live auction. All proceeds will benefit UCP of San Diego County.
March 1: Mike Garrow and Cousineau will appear at an assembly for students at King Middle School. The players will discuss hockey and the importance of education with sixth, seventh and eighth-graders, as well as handing out prizes and signing autographs for the students.
March 1: Koenig, Tibbetts, Read and Chris Gobert will be judging the quarterfinals of the Gulls' bikini contest at the Mission Valley Hooters. The contest, which is sponsored by Hooters, has four rounds and the winner will be crowned at the San Diego â Fresno game on March 13.
March 2: Kevin Grant and another Gulls player will be joining Escondido Union School District's "Read Across America" program, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Dr. Seuss. They will be reading books to children and signing autographs.
March 2: The Gulls will be holding the second "Bowl with the Gulls" night of the season, which will take place at Kearny Mesa Bowling Alley from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.
March 9: Three more Gulls players will be judging the semifinal round of the Gulls' bikini contest at the Downtown Hooters. The contest, which is sponsored by Hooters, has four rounds and the winner will be crowned at the San Diego â Fresno game on March 13.
March 10: Barber will be speaking to a third-grade class at Adobe Bluffs Elementary School, discussing the team and hockey in general. He will also be discussing the importance of education, staying in school and how it relates to hockey.
March 16: Koenig and Read will be participating in "San Diego Fast Dating" at the Bitter End in Downtown San Diego. They both will have two-minute interviews with as many girls as possible, choose one and have a mini-date with her the same night. This event will include celebrity guests from across the San Diego community.
