Rox & Huskies Start Second Half with Extra Innings

Duluth, Minn. - *The St. Cloud Rox traveled to Duluth Thursday to start the second half of the Northwoods League Season taking on the Huskies. The Rox fell in an extra-innings battle by a final score of 5-4.

The Huskies went up 1-0 on the Rox in the bottom of the first inning off a two-out single.

Duluth would continue to extend their lead in the bottom of the third putting up three runs for a 4-0 lead over St. Cloud. The Huskies were posted a run on a single to left field, a sacrifice fly to center field, and one on a double for their lead.

The Rox would answer in the top of the fifth as Vincent Jackson got the bats going hitting a single. Devin Pearson would follow with a single to left field and Chris Paul would double to left field scoring two run making it a 4-2 game. With two outs on the board for the Rox, Adam Martin would double to center field to bring St. Cloud within one of the Huskies.

St. Cloud tied the game up 4-4 in the top of the sixth as Vincent Jackson singled to scoring Bradley Strong from second.

Scoring went stagnant taking the game into extra innings. The Rox fell in a back and forth battle with the Huskies by a final score of 5-4 off a single scoring a runner from third.

Earning the start on the mound for the Rox was Kyle Fischer pitching 6.0 innings of work. Jay Flaa came into the game relieving Fischer for 1.0 innings and then was relieved by Reese Gregory pitching 3.0 innings and Adam Maxon for 1.1 innings of work.

The St. Cloud Rox (0-1 North) and the Duluth Huskies (1-0 North) will be back in action Friday night for game two of the series at Wade Stadium. The first pitch is set for 6:35 p.m.
