
Bullfrogs Finish First Half 16-19

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - The Bullfrogs finished the first half of the season at 16-19 after a 12-2 loss on Wednesday to the Rafters in Wisconsin Rapids.
The Rafters came out hot early, scoring three runs with in the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. The biggest hit was Jackson Slaid's two-run home run.
The Bullfrogs cut into the Rafter lead in the fourth inning, when Nick Torres blasted his first home run of the season to right field. It was a solo shot to make the score 3-1.
Wisconsin Rapids was quick to respond, however, coming back with two unearned runs in the fourth, and three more unearned runs in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 8-1. Errors that caused the runs to be unearned were charged to Bryant Burleson and Jack Parenty.
The Bullfrogs were able to tack on another in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout from Parenty.
However, in the bottom of the sixth, the Rafters came back with four more runs, including three on another home run from Slaid, who now leads the Northwoods League with nine on the season.
Green Bay was able to hold the Rafters scoreless in the seventh and eighth innings, with scoreless outings from Johnathon Tripp and Austin Franzen.
12-2 was the final. The Bullfrogs finished the first half of the season at 16-19.
The second half and a chance to vie for the second playoff spot in the Northwoods League's South Division begins Thursday at Joannes Stadium. The Madison Mallards won the first half to clinch the first playoff spot.
