Rox Split Series at Rochester Falling 4-2

Rochester, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox and the Rochester Honkers were back in action on Wednesday, rounding out the Rox first road series. The Rox split with the Honkers as they fell 4-2.

St. Cloud took a 1-0 lead over the Honkers in the top of the third as Conor Keniry led off the inning posting a single to center field. Keniry advanced to second off a sacrifice hit by Dustin Breshears. Two wild pitches would bring Keniry back home scoring the first run of the game.

Scoring went stagnant for three complete innings before the Rox took a 2-0 lead over Rochester. St. Cloud's Tim Colwell earned a walk to lead off the top of the seventh for the Rox. Adam Martin followed tallying a sacrifice hit as he moved Colwell to second. Colwell would continue to advance on the bases taking third on a ground out to short by Charlie Morgan. A two-out single to center field by Luke Weber would score Colwell from third taking a 2-0 lead over Rochester.

The Rox would hold their 2-0 lead until the bottom of the ninth inning when the Honkers would put up four runs on three hits. A grand slam by the Honkers' Jeff Campbell would seal a 4-2 victory for Rochester over the Rox.

On the mound for the Rox was Kyle Murray earning the start as he pitched 6.0 innings and only allowing two hits. Bryce Jackson would also see action on the mound as the Rox relief pitching 2.0 innings. Alex McRae came into the game for the Rox in the ninth inning recording the loss to move his record to 2-2 on the season.

The St. Cloud Rox (14-21, 14-21 North) will be back in action Thursday night as they travel to Duluth to take on the Huskies for a two game series. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. at Wade Stadium.
