
Chinooks Take Down the Frogs on the Fourth

The Bullfrogs fell to the Chinooks on the Fourth of July, 9-4 was the final as the Bullfrogs fell to 0-1 in the second half of the Northwoods League season.
After a scoreless first, the scoring began in the second. Aaron Machbitz (South Dakota State) singled and drove in Jerrick Suiter (TCU). Two more runs would come around to score. These runs were unearned to Bellin after a Bullfrog error allowed Machbitz and Cody Bobbit (Wichita State) to score. Lakeshore took a 3-0 lead after two innings at Joannes Stadium.
The Chinooks added on another in the third inning, as Mike Papi (Virginia tagging on a sacrifice fly from John Norwood (Vanderbilt). This was only the second earned run of the game charged to Bryce Bellin. Lakeshore had a 4-0 lead after three innings and didn't look back for the rest of the game.
Green Bay added three solo home runs throughout the game with Nick Torres (Cal Poly) and Cabe Reiten (Gonzaga) hitting their second home runs of the season, and Bryant Burleson (Texas Tech) hitting his fourth.
The Chinooks used three pitchers throughout the night. Donnie Hissa came in in the seventh inning to relieve starter Joe Greenfield, who earned the win. Karch Kowalczyk came in to finish out the game for Lakeshore. He allowed allowed one earned run in two innings of work.
The loss went to Bryce Bellin (0-3), and the win to Greenfield (2-1).
Game two of the series against Lakeshore will be Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Come out to Joannes Stadium for Ballpark Brew Fest #2 Presented By Triangle Distributing. Please note that there will be no Frogtacular Fireworks on Friday.
